Nestled in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Saltaire, this project required an energy solution that was both powerful and intelligent. The customer wasn't just looking to reduce their bills with solar; they wanted a sophisticated system designed to work in harmony with smart energy tariffs, specifically the Octopus Intelligent GO tariff, to maximise their financial savings around the clock.

Think Free Solar designed and installed a perfectly optimised system to meet this goal. We fitted an array of 8 high-powered 480WnAiko solar panels, chosen for their exceptional performance and sleek appearance. The system is managed by a Hanchu 3.68kW hybrid inverter, paired with a 5.12kwh battery.

The true intelligence of this setup lies in its strategy. We precisely sized the battery to provide enough power to run the home throughout the day. The system is programmed to charge the battery during the ultra-cheap overnight window offered by the customer's smart tariff. This means the home runs on low-cost, stored energy during peak hours, effectively shielding the owner from expensive electricity rates. The solar panels then contribute free, green energy during the day, further reducing grid reliance and keeping the battery topped up.

The result is a home with ultimate control over its energy costs. The customer is no longer just a consumer; they are an active energy manager, using a combination of their own solar power and savvy grid usage to ensure they are always running on the cheapest possible electricity.
